HOMESTEAD, Fla. – Joey Logano went out last in qualifying Friday evening at the Homestead-Miami Speedway, and he notched his second pole of the 2012 season with a lap of 30.672, 176.056 mph.

It was the fifth pole for Logano in 147 races, and it’s a nice way to start his final race of his Joe Gibbs Racing career. Joey Logano will be driving the No. 22 Penske Racing Ford next season in the Sprint Cup Series.

Chase points leader Brad Keselowksi went out 27th in the session and quickly went to second on the board. The time of 30.84 would hold up very well for the 28-year-old as he will start from the third position on Sunday.

Jimmie Johnson, who trails Brad Keselowski by 20 points in the standings entering this weekend, went out 32nd and posted a lap right behind his title foe. However, as the qualifying session progressed into the faster cars, Jimmie’s lap of 30.02 kept sliding down the scoring pylon. The five-time Sprint Cup Series champion will start the final race of the year from the tenth starting position.

The 14th Annual Ford EcoBoost 400 gets underway Sunday at 3:15 p.m. EDT.
